There's a bit of a story
behind this model. Not a particularly interesting story,
but a story nonetheless. Back in my wild rock n' roll
days my bedroom was the entire top floor of the house
I shared with my bandmates. The stairs leading down to
the rest of the house were accessed by a large square
hole in the floor. Being the clever fellow that I was,
I used to take the greatest pleasure in grabbing hold
of the overhang above the staircase and swinging myself
down through the hole, thereby avoiding the slow and cumbersome
stairs. One day, as I was getting ready for work, the
phone rang. I took my usual diving leap at the hole in
the floor and promptly missed grabbing the overhang. Now,
I don't know if you've ever landed flat on your back on
a staircase, but it is an entirely unpleasant experience
and not one I would recommend. To make a long and incredibly
pointless story short, I broke my ankle and a rib.
Ah, but where does the
M.S. 406 come in, you ask? Good question, glad you asked.
Well, my good friend Gordon took pity on me and gave me
the kit to cheer me up while I languished about the house
with my ankle in plaster for 5 weeks. And because he was
kind enough to give the gift of plastic, I felt obliged
to actually build the thing. Well, that and I really liked
the plane and the Finnish markings. See? Told you it wasn't
a particularly interesting story, but hey, ya gets
what ya pays for.
Oh, and the kit is really nice by the way. I boxed in
the wheel wells and detailed the cockpit but that's about
it.
