I guess Italeri
did their best with a difficult subject, and kudos to
them for finally giving us a mainstream injection moulded
kit of this important helicopter. But the tail structure
really is far too thick. It still looks quite effective,
but the real thing is very spidery in appearance whereas
this is just.... not. I can't help thinking that if Roden
had done this subject, the parts would have been much
closer to scale - although a real bitch to take off the
sprues without snapping them.
One day I'll scratchbuild
the tail from thin plastic or brass rod and mate it to
Italeri's cabin and engine parts; that'll be special,
won't it? BAHAHAHAHA!!!
