I know many of the other
write-ups on my models say something to the effect of
"Built straight out of the box except..."
but this one actually is straight out of the box. No additions
whatsoever. Oh okay, I did drill out the attitude control
rockets in the nose. Sue me.
Built more years ago than
I care to admit, this is one I'd like to do again as I
have some crazy notion that my skills have actually improved
since building this. Unfortunately, this kit doesn't figure
highly on the re-release program for some reason, so it's
rather difficult to find now. The last issue was a few
years ago and carried the ridiculous price tag of £15.00
when I was still living in the UK. It's a good kit, but
not 15 quid's worth of good. Special Hobby also did a
1/72 scale X-15 several years ago, which I would imagine
is superior to Monogram's, though this is also quite hard
to find now. Unless you want to pay an exorbitant price
from one of the excessively greedy Evilbay vendors.
