Revell-Monogram's decals
were simply awful. They have a milky adhesive which RM
says will turn clear when dry. Clearly - no pun intended
- it didn't. This simply will not do.
I created masks and painted
the markings on which looks far better. I also took the
opportunity to add the missing apostrophe so it now makes
more sense. Otherwise, the advertisement would be for
mothers and pies that bear no relation to each other,
instead of pies that were made by mother, or a pie business
belonging to mother.
Much better!
The windshield nearly became
the death of this model. I'm really not sure how this
happened as there didn't seem to be any warpage or misalignment
of the body halves, yet I somehow ended up with a badly
skewed windshield. Bits of brass rod were inserted into
holes drilled in the bottom corners of the windshield
which fit into corresponding holes in the body. The bottom
of the windshield was epoxied into place and left to set
overnight. Epoxy was then applied to the top windshield
mount and the elaborate clamp set up held everything in
alignment while the epoxy set.
A reprieve! The windshield
looking as it should. The frame was done in Bare Metal
Foil.

I cut the cherry and the mount from the plastic
shifter and glued them to a suitably shaped piece
of 0.040" brass rod. I always find this easier
and it produces much better results than trying
to clean up the plastic part.
