There really isn't much
to say about this. Much like the Seawolf,
it is nicely detailed, has few parts, is simple to build,
and doesn't fit very well. Mr. Surfacer 1000 was plundered
repeatedly for his gap filling wares, which I guess in
this context would be the modelling equivalent of ye olde
caulking.
Paint is equally underwhelming,
being overall Humbrol gloss black followed by Gunze clear
flat after the decals had been put on. Propeller is Humbrol
brass and the sticky-out bits on top are tipped in grey
and yellow. I have my doubts that the real thing has the
same plethora of racing stripes that the model has, but
at least it makes it a bit less dull.
Models of British submarines
are, sadly, few and far between so I'm very glad HobbyBoss
took the time and trouble to tool one up, despite it being
the size of a malnourished hotdog. Mmmm... submarine....
